the college and program through participation on committees such as the faculty, curriculum, and outcomes committees.
Workload information for full-time faculty is found in the employee handbook. Full-time faculty are required to work a 40-hour week, this includes teaching hours, grading, prep, office hours and attending meetings and in-services. Full-time teaching schedules will range between 20 and 28 hours per week. Teaching workload contact hours are determined by the following: 1 credit of lecture = 10 direct student contact hours (5 credit nursing courses equal 50 contact hours per course). The courses are taught over 10 weeks. Full-time faculty may teach up to 3 courses per term if the courses are in different areas or could teach 4 courses in a term if these came from only 3 different areas (example 2 sections of one area, and two other courses from different areas). All faculty members have periodic classroom audits and observations. Faculty members are required to complete and submit an annual self-evaluation as part of the performance evaluation process. Faculty must meet the requirements of professional development as part of their evaluation.

At the time of the site visit the teaching range for full-time faculty was 18-20 hours. The full-time faculty schedules now range changed to between 20 and 28 hours. This occurred because we now have all faculty accessing the Canvas LMS which grades quizzes and exams for them instead of using paper and pencil exams. The use of the Canvas LMS for grading other assignments has also shortened the amount of time it took to grade. This allowed them more time to teach. Faculty also participate in teaching asynchronous courses online using the Canvas LMS or by using Zoom for lectures allowing them to save on some commute time to and from the campus. Full time faculty usually work from home one day a week, while some full-time faculty are fully remote.
