Clinical experiences throughout the BSN program have been added with experiences in Skilled Nursing Facilities, Community and Public Health, Acute Care, Medical Surgical, Hospice, School Nursing, Mental Health, Correctional Healthcare, Home Health, and simulation. The students receive clinical practice across the lifespan and in all four spheres of care. If the baccalaureate degree program is under review, and the program offers a post-licensure baccalaureate (RN-BSN) track, please describe how students enrolled in the track complete clinical practice experiences consistent with AACN’s Baccalaureate Essentials definition of the direct care role ( Baccalaureate Essentials , AACN, 2008, p. 34). The culminating course of the RN-BSN program is NUR446 Baccalaureate Generalist Nursing Practice. This course includes a 120-hour capstone clinical experience. The student’s assigned faculty member is responsible for evaluating the student’s performance and all associated assignments completed during the practicum experience. The student is responsible for making travel arrangements and incurs all related expenses. Throughout the practicum students will prepare a weekly journal discussing how they have met course outcomes or shown understanding or mastery, how they have demonstrated the new role as a baccalaureate generalist nurse and what changes they see in this new role from practicing at the associate degree level, reflect on how they have grown as a professional nurse, developed confidence or self-image in the new role, and describe what changes they are experiencing.
If the master’s degree program is under review, and the institution offers an APRN preparation program, affirm that students enrolled the program complete at least 500 hours of clinical practice experiences:
