02773 Supporting You Guide

Learning Support Mentors Students who hold an EHCp have regular access to a Learning Support Mentor. These staff work within the Learning Support Department and provide support to EHCp holders with social interactions, emotional and welfare difficulties. Staff will work with you to try to enable you to overcome or manage your anxieties so you can access your studies. This may involve liaising with the welfare and safeguarding teams or providing information on external support agencies. Learning Support Mentors are located in N17, on the ground floor of the North Wing. Personal Development Coaches Students who do not hold and EHCp but require additional guidance and support can access this through Personal Development Coaches assigned to each curriculum area. These members of staff support the wellbeing of learners within their curriculum area, deliver tutorials and liaise between tutors, parents, carers and students. Welfare staff in N20 advise students on any safeguarding and wellbeing issues. As well as taking a proactive approach to wellbeing, organising activities and awareness sessions, they will respond to safeguarding issues and signpost students to further internal or external support on any wellbeing matters.
