A “one-stop shop” plan is in the works for helping business promotion and development. The Société de développment de Prescott and Russell Community Development Cor- poration (SDPRCDC) is working on creating a concierge service to help with promoting commercial and industrial lands that are available within the region to potential inves- tors. The concierge service will also help small- and medium-sized businesses getting access to sources of senior government aid for their own particular development needs. “It’s sort of a ‘one-stop shop’ idea,” said John Candie, SDPRCDC executive director, during a phone interview. $BOEJFBOE/JDPMBT.BMCPFVG 4%13$%$ regional director of economic development and tourism, included the concierge service project in their update report earlier this to the United Counties of Prescott-Russell on the regional business development agency’s current list of projects. The report noted that the business deve- lopment concierge service program can play “a key role in supporting and assisting businesses through their growth.” Candie indicated that the service can be a real bene- fit for small- and medium-sized businesses in the region with getting better access to senior-level government aid. “There are so many government programs

One form of assistance the concierge service can provide is dealing with the application process for government aid pro- grams. The business development concierge service’s advice and guidance can improve the chance of success for an application submission. One Prescott and Russell business that may benefit from the business development concierge service is already in contact with the SCPRCDC. “Right now all their products are being produced in China,” said Candie. “They want to bring their production back to Canada, specifically to Hawkesbury.” SCPRCDC staff met with the company representatives last December to get details of what the company wants to do.
