Those channels can include safe places to report incidents of discrimination. Attorneys advise communicating the existence of such channels using a variety of media: The company bulletin board, the e-newsletter, emailed memos, and the compa- ny employee handbook. Bonus tip: Ensure employees have the names of indi- viduals outside their chain of command to whom they can report bias issues. Mistake #5: Not training supervisors Front line supervisors must act quickly with appropriate responses to bias reports. “Often supervisors are ignorant of the law,” said Lázaro. “They need to at least be trained to the degree they can recognize potential red flag legal issues and request assistance when needed.”
