“I have always classified myself as a figurative artist and am interested in creating dialogue,” Josepha conveys. “It’s the space between two figures that interests me. The geometry of space has always been a vital component to my work, and then I let my subconscious rule.” Over time, Josepha has explored experimental arts and demonstrated an array of techniques, notably creating a number of oil paintings using acrylic in a glaze for underpainting. Asked what excites Josepha about the creative arts, she confidently replies, “For me, it’s purpose in life. For me to exist, I really had to be producing -- it was that primary need to create that I still have today. Art is a subconscious discovery of yourself and human nature; an exploration into the human psyche; it’s recognizing that there’s no formula and you just have to trust in that. I feel really inspired and I am very excited -- I have got a lot of canvases on the go.” Those with inquiries are encouraged to connect with Josepha through her “Josepha Van Den Anker” social media.
