Three Groups to Invite to Your Next Community Event by Amarachi Kejeh Fall is in the air, and it is a great time to host your next community event. But to make your event a success, you need the right people to show up. But how do you do that? Inviting people to your event does not have to be a mystery. Here is a straightforward way to organize your guest list by focusing on three key groups: Your inner circle These are the people closest to you: your friends and family. They are the ones most likely to attend and support your event. They might even assist with organizing or hosting. To get them excited, reach out personally through a phone call or a thoughtful message. Share some insider details about the event, letting them know what it means to you and how much you would appreciate their presence. Your circle of influence Next, think about your neighbours, co-workers, and people you know from local organizations such as your gym, club, church, or other community groups. These are individuals you see fairly regularly and who might be interested in joining a local event. Promote your event to them by putting up flyers in common areas they frequent, such as the lunchroom or bulletin board. Also, consider setting up an event page on Facebook or Eventbrite and sending them an invitation via social media or email.
The broader community Finally, consider those who may not know you personally but who might be interested in attending a local event. This includes individuals who shop at local stores, visit the library, or meet up at coffee shops. To capture their attention, place or hand out flyers in high-traffic locations such as supermarkets, coffee shops, and libraries. Social media can be a helpful tool here as well. Consider promoting your event on local community Facebook groups or using Facebook ads. If your budget permits, you can extend your reach by advertising in the local newspaper or on community radio stations. By inviting these three groups — your inner circle, your circle of influence, and the broader community — you can set up your next event to be the talk of the town. With a bit of planning
