Hyde Park BIA Launches ‘Barrels For Bees’ with Support from TD Bank’s Friends of the Environment Fund by Ellen McGran, Hyde Park Business Improvement Association This year, the Hyde Park Business Improvement Association (HPBIA), in partnership with the City of London, received a grant from TD Bank’s Friends of the Environment Foundation. This foundation is dedicated to protecting the environment and greening communities across Canada. With this grant, we are excited to introduce a new initiative called ‘Barrels For Bees’. Over the coming weeks and months, six pollinator barrels will be placed along Gainsborough Road, each beautifully painted by a community partner. The Pollinator Barrels Program is designed to create vibrant habitats for pollinators while also enhancing the visual appeal of our outdoor spaces. By focusing on bee-friendly container gardens, this program aims to educate and empower the community to actively contribute to the health of our local ecosystems. Our goal is to harness community involvement, educational outreach, and strategic partnerships to support pollinator habitats and enrich the Greater Hyde Park Area. Many thanks to our partners at Fox Hollow Retirement, Northwest London Resource Centre, Oxford Learning Hyde Park, Let’s Talk Science, Jess Jones Rec Therapy and Core Tutoring for painting the barrels. Learn more at HydeParkBIA.ca and follow the HPBIA on Facebook.
