What great doctrine is taught by this fact—Jesus in, bodily form, the Spirit in the form of a dove, and the voice from heaven/? 2 Cor. 13:14; Matt. 28:19. How has the Father honored Him? Phil. 2:9. ' ' Do the angels worship Him? Heb. 1 : 6 . Will there be universal homage given to him? Rev. 5:13. ■ What should our attitude be? Heb. 12:2, PRACTICAL POINTS (1) You cannot surpass as a witness God’s man from the wilderness. (2) Every believer should be a sign post pointing to the Son. (3) John testified to the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. (4) The unknown John was thp unpreten­ tious, unimpeachable, and uncompro­ mising witness of Jesus Christ. (5) They will witness to the worth of Christ who experience ' wonders through the word-of Christ. ( 6 ) A wonderful title for the King of Kings—Lamb of God! looking intently upon Jesus as He walked (v. 36, R.V.) that made John burst forth into this exultant and meaningful cry. If we fix our-eyes upon Jesus we will crjr the same, unless, alas, our eyes are sight­ less. “Oh Andrew, oh John, look,” John cries, “there comes,the Lamb of God, the Lamb of God’s own providing, the Lamb that, takes away all man’s guilt, the Lamb typified in the Passover and every Old Testament sacrifice” (Heb. 9:26; 1 Cor. 5:7). The result of John’s testimony was Startling, but it was delightful. John and Andrew at once turned their backs on John himself and followed Jesus. 'But while he only had two auditors it was one of the most important sermons that John the Baptist ever preached. It laid the foundation of that group of men, the Apostles, to whom we owe all our knowledge of Christ and the gospel. Little did John realize how much was involved in the testimony he gave that day, but faithful man that he was he gave it, and it is bearing fruit to this day. It was
