Using a Calc feature as a variable: A Calc feature result can be used as a variable in other feature measurement operations such as Goto operations. To set a Calc feature as a variable: 1 Press or click on the Calc button from the measure toolbar. 2 The Calc feature formula entry screen will be displayed.
3 Enter the name of the Calc feature enclosed in square parenthesis. (This denote the Calc feature as a variable). 4 Enter the formula in the formula field. 5 Press Done to save the variable and close the Calc definition dialog.
Using a variable in program GoTo step: A variable can be used to go to a specific stage position that is dynamically calculated during program execution using CNC GoTo program step. The variable is edited into a GoTo step. As an example, a program can be set to move to a stage position that is offset from a measured feature. To do this: 1 Measure a position feature.
2 Create two variables (XPos and YPos) to hold the X and Y values of the stage position. 3 Program a GoTo step and edit the X and Y values with the corresponding variables. 4 Press Done to save the changes and exit the GoTo definition dialog.
