Most of the manufacturers of high technology exports are developed economies. High technology’s role critical in this respect, because it also translates into sustainable growth. To make local research relevant to the industry, a platform needs to be established in instituting ‘demand driven research’ projects and provide contract research programs. Example of successful platform is the Aerospace Malaysia Innovation Centre (AMIC). The industry is encouraged to increase number of companies, particularly from traditional sectors to venture into high technology industries with the Government agencies to facilitate and coordinate companies’ efforts to change and need for knowledge integration.
