King's Business - 1968-06

C a n you v is u a l iz e a day when all the world will be united under one ruler and one king? We talk today about the united nations, but it expresses only an ideal, a hope, a dream, rather than an accomplished fact. Man hopes for a united world at peace, and does his utmost to achieve it, but meets only with failure again and again, but that dream will come true some day. It will not be brought about by human means or organization, but by the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to this earth. The city of Jerusalem will become the world capital, while all the earth is at peace. Hundreds of passages in Scripture deal with this golden age. First of all, will you follow in your Bible as we consider Isaiah 65:19, “And 1 will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice o f weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. There shall be no more thence an in fan t o f days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. And they shall build houses, and inhabit

them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fru it o f them. They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days o f a tree are the days of my peo ple, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work o f their hands. They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed o f the Lord, and their offspring w ith them.” Isaiah 65:19-23 Now this is an exceedingly rich passage of Scripture, and we suggest that you study it for your own private devotion. But there are several things which are to be noted which, as the con text will clearly show are a description of the con ditions which will exist in this world during that golden, coming age, centering in the city of Jeru salem, which will be the world capital in that won derful day when Jesus reigns upon the Throne of David. First of all, will you notice that the Lord prom ises that in this wonderful age, which we believe lies in the not too distant future, sorrow and weep ing and crying will be forever banished. The Lord
