this we must do with all of the earn estness of our beings. But also we must take greater interest in seeing to it that our elected representatives at all governmental levels demand that the historic Christian American way of life be maintained. We must insist that they pass whatever laws are necessary to see that this is car ried out. We must get above party politics ! We must repudiate those at the poles at every opportunity who would mollycoddle the lawless ele ment, regardless of race, and instead elect those who will see to it that jus tice is meted out strictly, firmly, and promptly. Our law enforcement agen cies should be given every encourage ment and backing. The danger is here now, and very, very real indeed! It has been stated by some of our great statesmen of the past, if America falls, it will fall from within, never from without. The seeds of our de struction are beginning to sprout and unless they are stopped forthwith, we will not have a country in which to worship God according to the dic tates of our hearts and consciences. Let us use the Word, prayer, and our power at the polls!

Because of these restrictions on police activities, it was charged by a member of the Detroit police depart ment that “‘all men were given shot guns, then told, ‘Don’t load them; put them in the trunks of your cars, be cause if these people see them, they might get excited and nasty.’ After the first night, we were told to take containing action to hold the riot within a one hundred block area. We were told ‘don’t go in, don’t do any thing, don’t shoot.’ Looting seemed no longer to be a crime . . . people just walked in and out of the broken windows with their arms full.” This utterly terrifying condition can be laid directly in large measure at the door of the Supreme Court through its interpretation of the various sec tions of the Bill of Rights, which are in complete violation of more than a hundred seventy-five years of Ameri can history and constitutional juris prudence. What has all of this to do with the sincere church member, who is de sirous of living his life according to the teachings of the Word of God and who wants to live in peace with all men? Of course, we can all pray and

and sympathetic attitude toward the interpretation of the law which al lows this condition to continue and flourish! It is this situation which has handicapped and hamstrung our police departments and made them well-nigh impotent in handling this phase of this forthcoming “civil war.” One scarcely ever reads about the courageous way in which police face death itself from snipers and mobsters in their effort to do their duty in keeping law and protecting the citizens. But let a policeman shoot a mobster in the line of duty and the news media of our country in newspapers, on radio, and on tele vision play it up for all that it is worth, joining in the mobsters’ howl of “police brutality” ! City and dis trict attorneys find it extremely diffi cult to get a conviction against these mobsters because of the recent decisions handed down by the liberal majority of the Supreme Court. Therefore the judges on the lower courts may not convict according to their interpretations of the law but must abide by the legal interpreta tions of the higher ups.
