MEETING MINUTES
REPORT OF THE RISK CONTROL COMMITTEE Chris Steinbauer, National Interstate, summarized the Risk Control Committee meeting, full details of which are contained within the minutes of the Risk Control Committee meeting. • The committee discussed the lag time for auto liability and worker’s compensation, emphasizing the need for improvement in both areas. Emphasis was placed on the frequency of loss in each of these areas as well as things we can do to help drive a reduction. • The committee reviewed the Best Practice utilization for the group, noting the utilization is excellent across the group and continues to improve. • The committee reviewed the revamped RASS scoring system • The committee reviewed the top 5 claims impacting the group for both auto liability and worker’s compensation. It was noted that worker’s compensation trends are primarily caused by employees with less than 2 years of tenure • There were 5 members added to the support list. All 5 were added due to late reported losses with a claim value higher than the loss fund retention. The importance of claims reporting time was discussed. • NATL’s Learning Management System and course offerings were discussed with the committee. REPORT OF THE UNDERWRITING COMMITTEE Tracy Hicks, National Interstate, reviewed and summarized the Underwriting Control Committee meeting. • The group discussed marketing and selection and the process for new member approval, including identifying accounts in other programs that fit Voyager. Noted that Voyager submissions up 25% in 2023, meeting new business goal with 7 new members added for just under $4M in premium. 5 of those members came from National Interstate’s other programs, Convoy & Venture • We reviewed the programs stats and talked about the current marketing initiatives in play, including Captivate, ABM Prospect Boxes, 2024 SRT video, and 2024 Top ART producer competition and continued association involvement • We reviewed the newest members of the Voyager program. • Finally, we reviewed and discussed the attendance and Loss Fund Loss Ratio reports as a committee. ADVISORY BOARD • The group discussed various meeting locations for Spring, 2026 and different ways we could boost attendance. Ultimately the group decided on holding the Spring 2026 Advisory Board Meeting in Aruba.
