The J-P St-Pierre Award has returned for the eighth year to recognize residents that are committed to supporting their communities. The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) has opened nominations for J-P St-Pierre Award. The award recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to their communities, whether it be in business, charity work, arts and culture, education, public service, or any other area that contributes to the well-being of the region’s citizens. Two awards will be presented at the 2022 UCPR Warden’s Banquet on November 19. The award was created to remember Jean- Paul St-Pierre, who lived in the Village of Russell for more than 40 years and served his community every day of it. He held grand positions such as mayor of the Township of Russell and warden of the UCPR, but he also served more locally as a police trustee, among others. He served his community right up until his sudden passing in 2014. During that year he was also chair of the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus (EOWC). “Citizens as committed and as devoted as Mr. St-Pierre are literally driving our com- munities forward and helping shape a better world for our future generations,” said Daniel Lafleur, current warden of the UCPR. “With the many challenges over the past few years, numerous citizens of the region have made a difference in our community, and we must recognize their significant contribution.” Any resident of the UCPR who has made a significant contribution to their community is eligible to receive the award. Nomina- tions can be submitted by contacting Olivier Berthiaume at 613 675-4661, sending an email to prix-jpstpierre@prescott-russell. on.ca, or by visiting the UCPR’s website. All nominations must be submitted by 4 p.m. on October 21.
