BIOLA’S WORLD-WIDE PRAYER CIRCLE Miss Christina J.

realize before, how great was His sacrifice. There is a story told of a man who had hard work to earn his scanty livelihood; and he lost his heart to a flower girl who was blind. For a long time he scraped and saved, and at last he gathered enough from his meager savings to enable her to seek the services of a distinguished surgeon. This flower girl did not know his name nor his circumstances; she only knew him as a friend; and she never realized, for he had never told her, all that it had cost him that she might have restored to her the blessing of sight. She went into the hospital and had the operation, which was successful. Hav ing received her sight, she came back to live a new life. Then she opened a little shop in which she sold flowers. One day she was looking through the window, and she saw a pathetic little figure of a man gazing at the blooms in the win dow; and acting on a sudden impulse she ran out and gave him a flower, not know ing in the least who he was, for she had never seen him. As she placed the flower in his hand, she realized that she knew the touch of that hand, and it came to her that this was the man who had sacrificed almost all he had for her. The little man, hardly knowing what to say to her, looked up, and said, "W ell, you can see now.” And she, with infinite meaning in her voice, replied, "Yes, I can see now.” When our spiritual eyes are opened, and we look into the eyes of the One who gave everything He had for us, we begin to realize what it cost Him. His love is inex haustible. His love is as the sun-kissed cloud, and as the deep, blue sky—infinite.

Braskamp, secre tary of Biola’s W o r l d - W i d e Prayer Circle, re cently mailed an inspiring re p o rt to members of the Prayer C irc le— the friends who ha v e s i gni f i ed their intention to gi v e o n e h o u r each w eek to in

tercession on behalf of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. ‘‘As members of the Prayer Circle,” Miss Braskamp stated, "we are strangers to each other, living in many dif ferent parts of the world, but agreed and bound together by His precious promise in Matthew 18:19.” The report indicated that Biola prayer helpers are found in fifty-two States and foreign countries. Persons in terested in obtaining accounts of answered prayer and subjects for intercession are in vited to write to Miss Christina J. Bras kamp, 558 South Hope St., Los Angeles, Calif. THE MEANING OF DISCIPLESHIP ['Continued from pag e 285] which is preventing you from serving God with all your powers, then, in God’s name, and for your own sake, cast it away. It is true that we never hear of Bartimeus again. But we do know that if he followed Christ, he followed Him to the end, because when Christ calls a man, and gives him grace to follow Him, He never lets him go. And whether Bartimeus lived for a few or for many years, we are inclined to think that he was a humble follower of his Sav iour right to the very end. He may have lived to be an old man, and to find his years of service gradually fading away, following the Master. At last when the call came to him, in another and very beautiful sense, he cast away the garment of his tired body, and sprang up to meet the King of kings. Pride, the unwillingness to be taught, cherished sin in the life— these are the things that are keeping you from Christ, and only His power can enable you to cast them aside. You cannot do it of your self; there must be the cooperation of your will with His enabling grace. There is no leader in the past or in the present who can compare with Christ. Whatever it is that keeps you from Him, give it up and come to Him. He needs you, and you need Him. What Our DIscipleship Has Cost Christ I have been laying much stress upon what we have to do; but let us think about what He has done. There is the great and wondrous truth that this call to discipleship that comes so sweetly to us all, comes to us only through the sacrifice of the cross. It cost Christ much that He might bid you come to Him.

Haldeman. “ It was some days ago that 1 first got hold of your Book “Dispensational Truth or God’s Plan and Purpose in the Ages.” Oh, it ju st thrilled my soul and I was struck with awe at the things the Lord has been pleased to reveal to you. I am so fascinated, how (by His wis dom) you put things together. During the few days that I’ve read it, I was very much blessed.
