Key Focus Areas and Goals: Access, student achievement, retention, persistence

Faculty Professional Development The faculty professional development workgroup recommended dedicating a physical space to faculty development. This year, they have moved forward with a faculty development center space, developed a website, and organized many faculty workgroups and brown bag talks held this academic year. Achievements and Next Steps: The work group is currently working on a position description for a Professional Development Center Director and a short-term plan for programming and center operations to be completed by Spring 2019. Key Focus Areas and Goals: Faculty retention, high-quality teaching, pedagogical innovation, scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), assessment Honors The honors workgroup recommended to fully develop an Honors College (currently the Douglas Honors College functions as an honors program) and to adopt a phased approach to the build-out. They also recommended the coordination of disparate departmental honors through the Douglas Honors College in order to improve consistency, accountability, and student access and experience. This group continues their work this academic year and is engaging in a broader university conversation about the future of the honors program. Achievements and Next Steps: The work group is currently planning a series of listening sessions during which members will collect feedback on work group recommendations. The DHC has moved to Hebeler, a visible space on campus with more room to accommodate the increase in DHC students. Interdisciplinary Programs The interdisciplinary programs workgroup provided a definition for interdisciplinary programs. They requested additional support for interdisciplinary program directors, an overall program coordinator, and a physical space for interdisciplinary programs. They recommended a new organizational model that would unite interdisciplinary programs. This year the workgroup is working with interdisciplinary program directors to ensure all programs have a charter in place and to coordinate assessment of all programs. They are also engaged in structured discussion with stakeholders to gain broader campus input into the future of interdisciplinary programs.
