Central Washington University Board of Trustees May 17, 2019 Executive Summary – University Naming of Facilities Report
In accordance with CWUP 2-10-080 (2C) Facility Naming, this action serves as the annual report on all naming proposals received during the preceding year, the status of each proposal in the approval process, and the name category: 1. Benefactor name: a name for a facility that recognizes substantial financial contributions by a donor or donors to the university. 2. Commemorative name: the name of an individual person, assigned as a permanent name for a facility. 3. Administrative name: a permanent facility name, which is primarily descriptive. (E.g. Biology- Chemistry Building, Language & Literature Building). 4. Working name: a temporary name which will be replaced by a permanent administrative, benefactor, or commemorative name. During fiscal year 2019, two buildings were assigned names, the former Science II facility and the facility that will replace Hertz Hall, which will be demolished later this spring. Following this summary is a recommendation to name the concert hall within McIntyre Hall after Dr. Wayne Hertz, a professor of music at CWU from 1938-1974, who laid the foundations for Central’s outstanding music program.
