An Exciting Fall for the Arts the arts department has already curated an impressive collection of events that have engaged the Hopkins community this school year. These events, paired with the announcement of the new Academic & Performing Arts Center, have brought a lot of excitement to the many arts programs offered at Hopkins. As the school year began in September, Student Productions presented The Chance of a Lifetime, an original script by Abigail Murphy ’23, directed by Will Schroth-Douma ’23. The play, which ran September 9–10, started the year out on an incredible trajectory. Later that month, an exhibition of paintings by guest artist Kwadwo Adae was featured in the Keator Gallery. Mr. Adae visited an all-school assembly to speak about his work, and the murals he creates around the city of New Haven, including the mural of Edward Bouchet, Hopkins class of 1870, viewable on the corner of Henry Street and Dixwell Avenue. From October 20–22, the Hopkins Drama Associa- tion (HDA) presented the comedic murder-mystery, Clue, directed by Mike Calderone. The fast-paced and funny play featured an incredible ensemble cast, who delivered their incriminating dialogue and puns to big laughs from the captivated audiences.
