Donna Vinci at classnotes@hopkins.edu. 2004 Erin Johnson erin122@gmail.com Hello, Class of 2004, and Happy New Year! Once again, we are glad to be the bearers of updates and good news from the class. We begin this edition with Jess Kaufman , who married her partner, Kim, in September 2022, in the backyard of their home in the Catskills. Jess reports, “I’m still in New York City two days a week teaching, but otherwise we’re loving life in our fixer-upper in the mountains.” After getting her MBA from Yale School of Management, Alex Bigler has embraced the startup life by joining new media company Puck as Head of Marketing. She lives in New York City on the Upper East Side with her husband, Alex, and would love to catch up with any classmates who are also in the city. A couple other classmates based in the New York area shared updates for this column. Alex Teicher , who shared a picture from Steven McDonald ’s 37th birthday, and Joshua Fein , who writes, “Michal and I are now living in Cresskill, New Jersey (right across the GW Bridge from NYC), with our three kids, Binyamin (6), Tamar (4), and Eitan, who turned 1 last week. I started my fellowship in hematology and oncology at Weill Cornell Medical Center, working toward a clinical and research career in leukemia and stem cell transplantation.” Josh also extended the invitation to reconnect with classmates so, perhaps a

New York–based ’04 mini-reunion is in the cards for 2023. Nate Rosenblatt completed a Ph.D. in Sociology and started a new job in the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. Nate also welcomed a new member of the family, Theodora Esther, who was born on July 4, 2022. He’d be happy to connect with fellow former Hilltoppers who live in the Washington, D.C., area. Finally, a brief word from your faithful class correspondents. Erin Johnson had a great time re-connecting with classmates Martha Royston and Piyush Gupta and their respective partners at the annual Hopkins holiday event at Union League in New Haven. They were joined by Hopkins alumni of all eras, new Head of School Matt Glendinning, and a number of current and former teachers and administrators. Meanwhile, Kimmy Lewis Gluck recently discovered an unexpected connection to a fellow classmate this summer when her family happened to rent Mike Knapp ’s old house in Westport, Connecticut. Here’s hoping for more classmate connections—whether planned or coincidental—in the new year! P.S. As we look ahead to our 20th (!) reunion in 2024, we are also looking for volunteers to take up the charge of Class Correspondents! If you are interested in learning more about this unique way to stay connected to our class and to Hop, please contact us for more information.

Steph Hoos moved to New Haven in July with her boyfriend, Brian. She is currently working as a language arts teacher for a trauma-informed program in New Haven called ACES Aspire. She still keeps in touch with Jon DiMaio when he’s in town, and she recently watched some of her former King students play in a volleyball tournament at Hopkins, which was a major full-circle moment! Christian Pikaart started a residential construction company called Featherstone Building. Outside of work, his favorite activity is sitting by the fire reading with his kids. Sylvia, his eldest, will turn 8 in November. He just finished Prince Caspian and is on to Voyage of the Dawn Treader . Orlaith Carr moved back to Dublin, Ireland, where she is still working as a veterinarian. She would love to see anyone who ventures over that way! Ken Jacobi and his wife welcomed their second living child, Chase Rylan Jacobi, to the world in September. Courtney Yakavonis recently began a new job at Columbia Threadneedle in Boston, Massachusetts. She was excited to see Ruthie Schwab at Julia Schoen ’s wedding in Ann Arbor, Michigan, this past August.
