THE ROLE The Head of Estates Engineering Services will provide leadership for the strategic planning and delivery of engineering services across all Royal Opera House sites. The incumbent will provide pro- fessional guidance and leadership on building and fabric maintenance, utilities, installation, capital works engineering and energy-saving and carbon-reduction projects for the Royal Opera House. We are seeking an individual with proven experience of leading engineering services across a compa- rable, live, operational complex estate portfolio. etc. • Manage and develop the Stage Blue contract for provision of Stage support services. • Ensure processes are in place for breakdown and routine maintenance of all engineering services. • Ensure the maintenance of all Front of House spaces to the highest standards. • Review and make recommendations to main- tain building integrity, maintaining accurate records and design drawings as required. • Recommend, plan and supervise all closed peri- od work. • Responsible person for cooling towers and wa- ter management. • Chair the water safety group. • Chair monthly contract meetings with Integral and Stage Blue. • Liaise with Technical department regarding stage engineering to include controls, systems, planned maintenance, project work and engi- neering solutions. • To liaise with engineering inspectors to ensure we remain compliant. • Liaise with the Building Manager on projects and support where required. • Chair the Estates electrical safety group. • Responsible for developing and maintaining the building and service maintenance strategy, ensuring it reflects the organisation’s long-term aspirations and plans, as well as providing for flexibility needed to deal with unforeseen opera - tional opportunities and changes.

Estate Plans • To work closely with the Director of Operations and Estates & Facilities Director on the estate plan ensuring its robust and covers the forward plans for the business. • Ensure that the Estate plan entwines with the master plan for the business and that sustaina- bility is factored in. Utilities • Work closely with the Head of Procurement to ensure best practice for utilities procurement. • Work closely with the designated energy procur- er to ensure best value for money in respect of energy purchase. • Recommend improvements to ensure we are as green as possible in respect of energy usage. • Assist with the compliance of CRC, ESOS & DEC’s Catering • Ensure that the catering equipment has been serviced, maintained and is fit for purpose. • Liaise with the Catering General Manager to en- sure that equipment is maintained and in good working condition. Facilities Administration • Liaise with Directors, heads of departments and staff, identify their requirements and propose and manage cost effective solutions within agreed timescale objectives.

Lifts and Hoists, Gas Safe and confined spaces. • Liaising with the Project Team to provide con- nections to the main building engineering ser- vices and technical information, standardisation of equipment and parts regarding their compati- bility with existing services and equipment.

Main purpose of the job

To provide and be responsible for: • The building and fabric maintenance, utilities, installation, capital works engineering and cater- ing equipment for the Royal Opera House and its associated premises to the required standards. • The management of Estates team and service providers to include engineering, Stage engi- neering support services and security, ensuring Health & Safety and compliance duties are met and the highest level of customer experience provided. • Ensuring that the Estates service provided is efficient and cost effective and adaptable to the business and artists needs of the ROH. • Developing and managing the BIM function across all buildings. • Project work, to include but not limited too; Renewal, Sustainability, closed period and com- pletion of any outstanding work related to the Open Up Project. • Leading and developing the team’s working practices meeting the challenges related to value for money, new legislation and ROH expecta-
