Having collaborated on several businesses together, Grant Street and Laura Turner now celebrate embarking on their latest adventure, Winner: Player One. Launched this July, Laura excitedly shares, “We already had STEM Camp participants scheduled and several attractions ready, so we made the decision to open and start welcoming the community.” As the proud pair describes, “Winner: Player One began as a passion project driven by our love for gaming and technology. We moved to St. Thomas 22 years ago; over that time we’ve grown to truly love this region and the people in it. To our knowledge, there’s nothing like Winner: Player One in the area and we felt St. Thomas deserved a modern, family-focused entertainment centre. That need, combined with our passion, inspired us to build something new for our community.” These business owners detail with evident enthusiasm, “Win- ner: Player One is built around a wide range of technology- driven attractions, and we’re constantly expanding and evolving to meet the needs of our community. Our forward-thinking approach allows us to offer far more than traditional family entertainment — we’re creating an environment where fun, learning, and innovation all intersect.” Asked what excites these entrepreneurs about their service, they answer with ambition: “The ability to keep pushing boundaries. We’re already developing VR training, VR STEM programs, school and after- school initiatives, and future-focused attractions that introduce people to emerging technologies in a hands-on way. The idea that we can bring these experiences to St. Thomas — and keep growing them — is what drives us every day.” Thus far, Winner: Player One has been operating during the Elgin Centre hours: Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Sunday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
