2026 Oktoberfest: Jim Cuddy Joins the Downtown Core by Peri Hayes In Sarah Lynch’s community-rooted career, she presently colla- borates with community partners, sponsors, vendors, volunteers and beyond to bring Oktoberfest to fruition: “Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and memorable event that celebrates our downtown, while supporting local businesses and fostering community connections.” As Sarah cheers, “This year’s Oktoberfest will transform downtown St. Thomas into a vibrant celebration featuring live music and entertainment, local food and beverages, community vendors, family-friendly activities, free train rides, street hockey, and plenty of opportunities to explore everything our downtown has to offer.” Curated with care, Sarah describes how they’ve incorporated unique flair into these 2026 festivities: “This year’s new event footprint will provide a more immersive and engaging atmosphere, making it easier for attendees to enjoy live entertainment, delicious food and beverages, local shopping, and community activities – all in one place. Whether you’re coming to see Jim Cuddy, discover a new favourite downtown business, enjoy great food, or simply spend time with family and friends, Oktoberfest offers something for everyone.” Regarding the aforementioned special guest, Sarah highlights, “We are incredibly excited to welcome Jim Cuddy to downtown St. Thomas. As one of Canada’s most celebrated musicians and the co-founder of Blue Rodeo, his performance is a tremendous opportunity for our community. Hosting an artist of this calibre not only creates an unforgettable experience for local residents, but also attracts visitors from across Southwestern Ontario.”
Sarah believes that occasions such as Oktoberfest exemplify what can be achieved when a community works together toward a common goal. “Seeing those connections happen is, without question, the most rewarding part of organizing this event,” says Sarah. Celebrated on Saturday, September 19th from 2:00 pm - 9:30 pm, this Oktoberfest will be held in downtown St. Thomas, on the corner of Talbot and Ross Street. Additional event details, including entertainment schedules, road closures and train ticket information will be shared on the Downtown Oktoberfest website and social media platforms.
