People are capable of such creativity and beauty; giving them an opportunity by selecting plays with bold themes and large casts will certainly make an impact, felt long after this season closes.” With various performances on the horizon and opportunities to celebrate local theatre, Timothy enchantingly expresses the following invitation as a message to the community: “A play is a temporary thing: you can’t record it; it’s never the same twice; it needs to be felt and experienced in an immediate and visceral way. Nobody gets paid at the Elgin Theatre Guild; everyone there is doing this for love – the love of theatre, the love of community. The word ‘amateur’ — often used derisively — literally describes someone who does an activity purely out of love for it. We do this for you, St. Thomas. So, come out and see the fruits of our labour.” To conclude, Timothy conveys, “This fall will see the return of the Saturday Night Actor’s Lab. This is an opportunity for anyone — of any experience level — to come out and work on a scene in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.
