A Note From Sylvia After a long, cold Minnesota winter, May finally arrives — bringing with it a fresh sense of possibility. At Twin Cities PBS, we’re welcoming the season with programming that celebrates creativity, discovery, and the stories that bring us together. We’re especially excited to spotlight a remarkable Minnesota talent in a special broadcast of This Is Minnesota Orchestra . Principal Timpani Erich Rieppel, who hails from Marshall, takes center stage in Andy Akiho’s dynamic “Timpani Concerto.” Led by conductor Domingo Hindoyan, the program also features inspiring works by Adolphus Hailstork and César Franck. It’s an evening of music you won’t want to miss. Tune in Friday, May 29 at 8 pm. May also gives us the chance to honor a true legend. As Sir David Attenborough approaches his 100th birthday, we’re celebrating his extraordinary legacy with Life on Earth: Attenborough’s Greatest Adventure . This fascinating special looks back at the groundbreaking 1979 series that captivated audiences around the globe. Watch on Wednesday, May 6 at 7 pm, and be sure to catch more of Attenborough’s most memorable programs every Wednesday throughout the month. If you love live theater, Great Performances brings Broadway straight to your living room. Don’t miss the premiere of Suffs , created by Tony Award winner Shaina Taub — a powerful, timely musical about the American suffragist movement (Friday, May 8 at 8 pm). The following week, settle in for the elegance and romance of Top Hat, filled with Irving Berlin’s timeless songs (Friday, May 15 at 8 pm). As Memorial Day approaches, we pause to remember and honor those who have served with the National Memorial Day Concert , live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol on Sunday, May 24 at 7 pm. Closer to home, we continue our commitment to meaningful storytelling with Minnesota Experience: Armed with Language and Independent Lens: Third Act , both airing May 25 in recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. We hope these programs inform you, inspire you, and spark meaningful moments of connection. Thank you, as always, for your continued support of Twin Cities PBS — we’re grateful to have you with us.
