EASY SHOPPING FOR BEST GIFTS Easier to choose . . . Easier to suit those to whom ydu give . . . Easier to grift wrap than most anything else you might give . . . Easier on the pocketbook, are but a few ways in which the buying of good books for Christmas presents makes easier the other wise laborious chore o f gift-buying. Here is the answer to the problem, “ What shall I give for Christmas to my pastor? to a ministerial student? to a missionary? a Bible teacher? to Mom? to Pop? Buy some of these books, autograph them with a word of sentiment and good wishes, and you will have given a personal gift that shows good taste, and worth far more than anything else of like price.

shall be the home of the righteous.” (Another ‘steal’ from the JWs.) Denial of the teaching of hell: “ The doctrine of eternal torment is as thoroughly unscriptural as it is sav agely inhuman . . . hell means the grave, destruction, annihiliation” (held by JWs and SDAs). Denial of the atonement: “ The God of the Bible always condemned hu man sacrifice, and certainly He would not practice it Himself, with His innocent Son as the Victim. . . . Christ’s literal death on a Roman cross at the hands of a mob, not of His Father, was the last act of obedi ence in a life of perfect obedience.” Denial of salvation by faith: “ Before we can partake of the immortal state in the future Kingdom on earth, we must become mentally, morally and physically like God.” Nichols had decided from his vision that “ the moral likeness of God must be at tained. Sin being the transgression of the law . . . perfection consists in keeping the law inviolate. No man could be saved apart from knowing and keeping every commandment of God.” Of Nichols it was written: “ The religion of Jesus Christ was first and last a religion of doing, and now our s p i r i t u a l emancipator was preaching, practicing and enforcing that very religion.” It is evident this is but another do-it-yourself, save-yourself cu lt, similar to SDA in its adherence to the law and like JWs in every other respect. When Nichols gave up evangelical belief in 1880, he was acclaimed “an honest man” for his “ admission of past error.” His followers declared that his “ revelation” was “ the most stupendous proposition offered to men since the seventh century. . . . He told them that when Jesus said, ‘Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect,’ He meant just that, no more and no less. Through the process of growth and development the moral likeness of God must be attained.” In complete contradiction to this, God’s Word declares : “ Knowing that a man is not justi fied by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified” ; “ If there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the Scripture hath concluded all un der sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe” (Gal. 2:16; 3:21-22).
