Responsible to: Associate Director International Development

● Maintaining balances and agreements with partner universities & colleges ● Ensuring that staff and students are appropriately prepared before embarking on overseas placements ● Ensuring oversight of partner institutions with respect to safety & security, services, students satisfaction and academic suitability and standards amongst other criteria ● Participating in key external international education events in the UK and abroad ● Acting as the institutional link for Erasmus+

Responsible for: Erasmus+ICM Manager, Global Opportunities Officer, Global Opportunities Short Programmes Assistant, Global Opportunities Assistant

Role Summary:

Developing Short Programmes

This Head of Global Opportunities leads on the development of the University’s mobility opportunities for staff and students. This includes the strategic development of full year, semester and shorter term mobility schemes.

● Effective planning, budgeting, marketing and pricing for short programmes

Liaising with the Associate Director International Development on a regular basis Finance/Resource Management ● Manage resources and budgets within allocated project areas including external funding for mobility, short programmes and the general operational budget to ensure maximum value is delivered for the resources used. ● Contribute to the resource and budget planning for the International Office Customer Service and Support ● Generate original ideas and innovative solutions through the provision of specialist knowledge and advice as appropriate ● Apply expertise in international mobility to make decisions where solutions are not obvious, to deliver professional services to meet student and staff mobility requirements ● Ensure that professional and quality service standards are maintained and applied within the Global Education Team.

The priorities for the role include:

• Management and strategic development of mobility programmes with a focus on increasing further outward study mobility • Managing and expanding in a strategic manner the existing portfolio of short programme activity which consists of language and culture programmes and Faculty led academic programmes • Leading on the strategic development of fee paying study abroad options • Engagement with Erasmus+ programmes KA103 and 107 • Encouraging staff mobility under Erasmus +
