Ultimate Flex was founded in 2013 to serve the flexible packaging market and operates as a sister di- vision to its parent Ultimate Paper Box, a manufactur- er of folding cartons and litho labels established in 1995.The two firms employ 130 skilled craftsmen. At the Windmoeller & Hoelscher 52-inch Miraflex AM 10-color flexographic press demonstration, Ulti- mate was running live the production of 300 of its personalized goodie bags presented to each guest. The bags, emblazoned with Ultimate’s logo, were later filled with a premium chocolate box produced on the firm’s Bobst die cutters. “The flexographic division is one of our fastest growing,” said Patel. “We’re experiencing 18 percent growth in this area. Currently, flexo makes up 30 per- cent of our business with offset paperboard packag- ing the other 70 percent. We anticipate that quickly flexo and offset will comprise an equal 50/50 split of our business.” Ultimate’s customer base is 95 percent serving the food market and 5 percent serving the cosmetic market. What draws customers to Ultimate Flex is its envi- ronmentally friendly green solution. The firm uses a water-based printing and solvent-less lamination ap- proach for its flexo production. It does not have to burn off VOCs and saves natural gas.
