Public Art Dedication

K9 Memorial Donation

Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex “As One,” a dramatic new sculpture by artist Beliz Broth- er, is the latest commissioned artwork to be added to the Fort Worth Public Art Collection. The sculpture is based on the shape of Fort Worth’s police and fire patches, with two halves intersecting and supporting each other, ex- pressing solidarity between the departments. Inside the large, curved forms, unique shapes of numerous patches collected by the Fort Worth Fire and Police departments are water-jet cut into 1-inch-thick steel, creating an overall pattern that casts intricate shadow play on the plaza at the entrance to the Administration Building.

A big FWPD Thank You to Allan and Debra Rodger for their generous support of our department - specifically a K9 Memorial bronze statue to honor all of our fallen K9s. The K9 Memorial is located at 505 W. Felix Street. On December 11, Mayor Price, City Council, Chief Fitzger- ald, and other members of the department recognized Allan and Debra Rodgers for their generous donations and contributions to the Police Department.

2018 National Night Out

The 2018 National Night Out (NNO), held on October 3, marked the 34th Annual National Night Out sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and Fort Worth Police Department. National Night Out is designed to:  Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.  Generate support for, and participation in, local anti- crime programs.  Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.  Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back! For the first time, National Night Out registration was con- ducted online. 216 registrations were completed using the NNO Registration Form on the FWPD website at https://police.fortworthtexas.gov

East Patrol Division Pieces of Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow, a multi-faceted painting by local artist Gregory Beck, is another commis- sioned artwork to be added to the Fort Worth Public Art Collection. Located at the East Division Police Station at 5650 East Lancaster Avenue. The vibrant artwork is in- spired by the spirit of east Fort Worth and its ties to and influences on the city. The work, comprised of 27 individu- al pieces and eight large-scale panels, illustrates a puzzle in progress. Each piece of the puzzle is inspired by east Fort Worth’s historic relevance and cultural diversity. Showing the evolution of the community in Handley- Meadowbrook, the artwork references signature elements of the area, such as the Interurban Railway that ran from Fort Worth to Lake Erie, and the Pike Drive-In Theater, as well as portraits of present-day community members and Fort Worth police officers. A dedication ceremony was held on November 16, 2018.
