The United Counties Science Fair awarded approximately ten thousand dollars in prizemoney and awards, scholarships, and trips on April 11.The fair, which celebrated

its 40 th edition, wel- comed over a hun- dred students from nineteen schools in the region.

Winners included Jeremy Mallette, Samantha Peets and Sarah Dilamarter fromSt. Joseph’s Catholic School, Gabriel Valin, Fabienne Lafrance, Jade Pommier, Anthony Valin and Samuel Lavictoire of L’Héritage, Michelle Journeaux and Mackenzie Van Loon of the Glengarry District High School, Anisha Banga, of the St. Lawrence Secondary School, Abigail Jordan, Harneet Cheema, Erika Jordan, Daniel De Cruz, Andi Black, Anu Hunter,

Viscount Alexander Public School, Madison McCormick and Mayura Mayarajah of Sacred Heart as well as Brianna Staver of Bishop MacDonell. Gabriel Valin of L’Heritage, Samantha Peets and Jeremy Mallette of St. Joe’s and Michelle Journeaux of Glengarry District High School will represent the region at the CanadaWide Science Fair in Fredericton, NewBrunswick fromMay 10 to 17.The national fair brings together over 400 projects by 500 finalists from across Canada who will be vying for awards, medals, scholarships and trips valued at over one million dollars.
