Challenge Cup challenge
The Voyageurs U17 girls surprised many of the opposing teams from across North America at the Challenge Cup Tournament in Washington, D.C. The mid-January road trip saw the CIHA Voyageurs U17 squad in the American capi- tal for three days of hard play that saw the academy girls come in as the underdog team and fight their way into the semi-final round against Chicago’s best. “As a coaching staff, we could not bemore proud of the effort and determination that the girls displayed over the course of this weekend,” stated Coach Corey MacDon- ald. “This was the best hockey that we have played all year and to hear the positive com- ments from opposing coaches and parents is a true testament to the skill and relentless work ethic of this team.” The Challenge Cup series features top tier junior program teams from the Junior World Hockey League, the Qu é bec Cegeps program, and many U.S. clubs.
