developing recommendations for revision to the General Education program. They will continue to be involved in discussions and approval of revisions to the program in the next academic year. The committee also provided recommendations regarding proposed class size increases for academic writing courses, and we are pleased that the Provost followed the recommendations of the committee to not increase class sizes. • The Global Literacy Ad hoc Committee spent last year researching and crafting recommendations for an emerging priority in the General Education framework that will prepare students to be active, ethical, and responsible global citizens. The committee revisited the work of the Antiracism, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee, broadening the work to include other intersections and global perspectives. Their work has resulted in learning outcomes that can support general education revisions next year. • The Faculty Senate Executive Committee facilitated Senate committee work by charging committees with tasks and sending FSEC members to each committee as liaisons. This year we revised and re-launched the Budget and Planning Committee, which will begin work again in Fall quarter. The FSEC continues to work on revisions to the attendance policy (see above under Academic Affairs Committee) to ensure federal compliance and support for students. This summer the FSEC will also work closely with the Provost and the VP for Student Engagement and Success on revisions to academic dishonesty and academic appeals policies. We will be engaged in the pre-planning conversations related to the feasibility of a shift from quarters to semesters. Next year, we are eager to continue conversations exploring three-year degrees and will lead the work of revising the General Education program and the first-year experience to best support student recruitment and retention. We look forward to continued collaboration with the Board as we work to support student success and faculty and staff well-being.
Sincerely, The Faculty Senate Executive Committee
