WINKWORTH BECKENHAM

Interview with Amphlett Lissimore

going through the process is to be realistic about what it will require from you, and the amount of time it may take. Why do people choose Amphlett Lissimore for their property sales and purchases? Reputation and availability. We are well-known to many estate agents in London and the Southeast, and pride ourselves on our excellent working relationships with them. We always try to update agents and clients at the same time ensuring that everyone is fully aware of where we are in the transaction and what is required. This helps greatly with communication especially when there are long chains involved. We have direct dial phone numbers and individual emails meaning you can always call or email the person dealing with your matter, rather than waiting on hold for lengthy times trying to get through. They say that moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do in your lifetime. How do you as the conveyancer help to elevate that stress? Communication is key! We’re transparent, proactive, and always try to be available, even if it’s just an email or a quick call. We keep you updated so you know where we are in the process and understand what is going on. How has your role evolved over the years and what changes are you seeing in the property process currently? Legal documents and processes are considered ‘behind the times’ – this is because most official documents, such as contracts and transfer deeds, still need to be printed and physically signed. Clients used to have to attend in-person with their identity documents and have them certified by a solicitor. Times are changing. Many of our clients now complete electronic identity checks, which can be done all over the world, and do not require them to take time out of their day or arrange time off work to come in to see us. We are also seeing the rise in DocuSign which will allow clients to sign documents electronically and move away from the printing and posting processes currently still in place across most of the conveyancing.

Claire Pays is a residential property partner at Amphlett Lissimore Solicitors, where she leads the conveyancing team at the West Wickham office. Tell us a little bit about you and how you became a partner in Amphlett Lissimore? I’ve been working in residential property since 2012, and I specialise in conveyancing, which is the buying and selling of property. Having joined Amphlett Lissimore Solicitors in 2014, I now have over a decade of experience, and I was made Partner in June of this year. As part of my role as a partner in the firm, I manage the wonderful residential team at our West Wickham office. We have a varied client base and whilst we deal with a lot of London properties, we also do conveyancing for clients right across the country. Wherever our clients may be, we always aim to make the transaction as stress-free as possible for them. What’s the best piece of advice you could give to someone buying or selling their home? Buying or selling your home is a huge life change, so my best piece of advice to anyone
