Farewell Message by Dr. Jann Weitzel, President, Cottey College As my time as president of Cottey College draws to a close, I am filled with pride as I review the amazing accomplishments of the Cottey community with support from our amazing friends and donors. As a team, we have: Witnessed growth in our baccalaureate programs, increasing the total to 15!

Updated our strategic and master plans and engaged in a branding process resulting in our new logo and tagline: Creators of Incredible Futures. Created a virtual tour of campus and many YouTube videos, expanded our social media and added our new virtual spirit shop! Annually ranked by the U.S. News & World Report for all that we offer to our students. With support of the Cottey Board, created the Innovation Fund that encourages all campus constituents to apply to receive funding for unique projects. Expanded our outreach to our donors and friends through various forms of media, attendance at state/ provincial/district conventions and personal visits. Over the past years, Cottey has set new records in fundraising. As the last two years have brought unprecedented challenges, I could not be more proud of the way in which Cottey has successfully navigated the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been a community effort and I am grateful for the remarkable dedication and responsibility demonstrated by our campus. I am sometimes asked about my favorite Cottey memories. I’ve loved every opportunity to interact with our students— on campus, as part of the International Experience and at arts, academic and athletic events. I have been honored to work with an outstanding administrative team and amazing talented faculty and staff. I have enjoyed my interactions with and support by you, my P.E.O. sisters and BILs, our alumnae and our many friends of the college. I have cherished the opportunity to work closely

Reimagined our recruiting efforts and now offer students a personalized visit, as well as Scholars Day and Emerging Leaders Symposium, resulting in enrollment increases over the past two years! Expanded athletic programs to now include eight sports teams and been accepted into the National Association of Intercollege Athletics, allowing students to play the sport they love for a full four years! Updated and expanded campus facilities. Our library’s first floor and the P.E.O. Hall parlor were refurbished; Reeves Hall was air-conditioned; and we added a psychology lab, cadaver lab, MAC computer lab and stock trading lab/esports arena. We refurbished our campus chapel and added a student center, the Chellie Club coffee shop (an entrepreneurial lab) and the spirit shop in the lower level. We’re now working on the addition of an education lab. All of these projects were made possible through gifts, bequests and support from the Cottey Board of Trustees, the P.E.O. Building Fund or the P.E.O. Foundation. With support from donors, created the Clark Institute for Women in Business and the STEM Research and Scholarship program and partnered with the Maurer School of Law at Indiana University to enable qualified students to enter law school at a lowered cost of attendance. Added townhouses to our residential offerings and a new Wellness Center that allows us to holistically serve our students’ needs through counseling and health services.
