Duncan Rainbird
Tell us about your career so far? I started work in 1978 as an apprentice truck mechanic , then in 1983 I was looking for a change and started selling radiators ! And I have done that via three companies in the UK and one in Saudi Arabia, so that will be 43 years in the motor trade selling radiators in October this year! Did you plan to get involved in this industry? Yes I always have had a love for the Motor Industry, though I didn’t think I would however sell the same product for 43 years!
What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Computer Skills, at 63 years old the younger people have better knowledge and skills than me. What is your most effective or personal asset? I would hope that my people skills are an asset I have and I always follow my best advice. You’ve won the lottery. What car would you rush out and buy? I think a fully loaded Range Rover with the big engine!
What was your biggest disappointment? Nothing really, If you lose one day, you will win the next day!
How do you relax? I don’t. Simply cannot, never have been able to.
What was the best piece of advice you ever received? Always treat people as you expect to be treated yourself. Whom do you most admire? My father who taught me well. He spent 48 years selling dried fruit and I have nearly done the same with cooling products.
Tell us something surprising about yourself? I cannot remember ever being ill, I havent seen a Doctor in 25 years. Am I a robot?
