WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE Our stakeholders understand the mandate and role of APEGA.
Government Relations
The provincial government and local municipalities are trusted partners that share our mission to keep Albertans safe. We continued our efforts to enhance collaboration, communication, and relationship-building with both levels of government in 2021.
We engaged with provincial government ministries and other key stakeholders to increase awareness and understanding about our proposed improvements to the Engineering and Geoscience Professions (EGP) Act . We did this through a targeted advertising campaign and by connecting directly with key influencers. The EGP Act is the joint governing legislation for APEGA and the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET). UPDATING THE ENGINEERING AND GEOSCIENCE PROFESSIONS ACT
Modernized legislation is important to help us regulate our professions more effectively and continue protecting public safety in Alberta. Updates to the Act will ensure meaningful consequences for those who fail to meet professional, technical, and ethical standards.
We began multi-year legislative renewal consultations in 2014.
APEGA and ASET jointly submitted more than 160 recommendations to the province in 2019.
