Federal Radiological Monitoring Assessment Center (FRMAC) U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) To meet the requirements of 44 CFR 351, the National Response Framework (NRF) / Nuclear/Radiological Incident Annex (NRIA) designates DOE/NNSA the responsibility for establishing and coordinating the FRMAC during the early phase of a radiological response. The FRMAC coordinates all federal offsite environmental radiological monitoring, sampling and assessment activities to assist the Coordinating Agency, state(s), and local authorities. National Atmospheric Release Advisory Center (NARAC) U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)

The National Atmospheric Release Advisory Center (NARAC) provides tools and services to map the probable spread of hazardous material accidentally or intentionally released into the atmosphere. NARAC provides atmospheric plume predictions in time for an emergency manager to decide if taking protective action is necessary to protect the health and safety of people in affected areas. NARAC’s role in an emergency begins when there is a potential or actual release of hazardous material into the atmosphere. NARAC’s computer-based system provides realistic maps of radiation dose and exposure assessments, and estimates the amount of radiation contaminants released into

the environment. Feener, Jessica HQ NARAC Program Manager U.S. Department of Energy
