physical strength and long hours. The bak- ers start around 4:30 a.m. to have the !rst batch of bread out between 8:30 and 9 a.m. each morning. They are open seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Thursday, until 8 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Managing all the production and serv- ing customers is labour-intensive and the Village Bakery is currently planning to hire four part-time helpers.

EMBRUN l The brand-new Village Bakery has opened on Notre Dame Street in Emb- run, in the spot formerly occupied by Wil- son Bakery. The bakery, which features all the tradi- tional bakery products made from scratch, opened on Saturday, August 2, and had over 180 visitors the !rst day. It was perfect—it was exactly what we were looking for.” “We’re really glad, it’s nice to be back in a rural community,” said Sorrell, who grew up in Carp. The family has a tradition of being bakers for several generations. They renovated to open up the 2500 sq.- ft. space, moving the kitchen into the very back of the building to accommodate their
