Going that extra mile for your customers and clients – for one company it really is a matter of Black andWhite. Gloucester-based recruitment specialists Black and White Group will soon be celebrating breaking through the £1million turnover barrier, despite being less than three years old. The success is down to years of recruitment industry experience they have at their offices on Brunswick Road. Led by managing director Tony Farmer, the full-time staff of five can call on decades of knowledge gained in the manufacturing, engineering and care sectors. And that experience of what works – and more importantly what doesn’t work – has governed a simple ethos that guides everything they do. “We always say to a new customer that we will treat their business like it’s our own,” Farmer said.

“We get that kick out of putting the right person in the right job, helping customers out with their problems. “The reason we are called the Black andWhite Group is because we want to make things simple. It is a matter of black and white, treating staff and customers well.” Mr Farmer started out in the recruitment business in the mid-1990s, working as a sales manager at Omega, back when he was one of only two employees who weren’t directors of the company. He helped the company grow and ended up managing a large team and soon began to be taken away from what he enjoyed doing. So, he joined forces with two contacts from the industry and launched PDS Recruitment Services and ran for nearly a decade and a half, regularly turning over £1million per year.
