HEART OF THE LESSON Today we begin a series of three studies on the general theme, “Minor Prophets Who Became Heroes.” There were twelve minor prophets. These books are called “minor,” not because they are not of equal importance with other of the Old Testa ment prophets, but because they wrote coitiparatively short books. The short books are called “minor” prophets; the larger books are called “major” prophets, viz., Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel. STUDY QUESTIONS 1. According to the Scofield Bible head ing to Amos, what is the date of Amos? 2. In this same Scofield Bible introduc tion to Amos what was the main emphasis in the writing of Amos? 3. How is the marvelous patience of God suggested in Amos 1:3,6,9,13; 2:1; 2:4? Discuss the patience of God with respect to the world of unbelievers, and also with respect to His people, (cf. 2 Peter 3:8-9.) 4. What principle of divine judgment is suggested in Amos 3:1-2? Study Romans 2:12-15 in the same connection along with Romans 2:17-29 and Romans 10:1-3. Discuss the fact that the more light the greater the responsibility and the greater the judgment for failure.
