ROCKLAND | Mid-October and the air is getting crisp as autumn nears its end. In Rockland two businesses offered a combo fundraiser special against cancer. Over at Salon Smartstyle inside the WalMart building at the Smart Centre shop- ping plaza, staff there spent all day giving customers clip jobs against cancer. With ev- ery hair cut or styling job 10 per cent of the fee went into the Clip for the Cure for Breast Cancer fund. Outside the building other staffers and supporters manned a barbe- cue for cancer concession stand. Along with other fundraising ideas that day Smartstyle collected $380 for breast cancer research and treatment. In downtown Rockland in the parking lot outside of the Curves Fitness Centre at the intersection of Laurier Street and Heritage Drive they were rocking to the Zumba beat with close to 40 Curves clients and instruc- tors dancing, swaying, prancing, and sa- shaying up and down the asphalt for dona- tion pledges against breast cancer. The Second Annual Curves Rockland Zumbathon raised $760 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
