FIRE RETARDANT ANTI- STATIC PERSONAL PROTECTION
FR Anti-Static is to be used in an area where there is a risk of hazardous sparks caused by electrostatic discharge that could result in fire and/or explosion. The Anti Static properties are there to reduce the build-up of Electrostatic Discharge. The fire retardant properties are there to protect the wearer against heat & Flame caused by Static build up. The Anti Static fabric used will always incorporate flame protection properties, either inherent or as a chemical finish.

CARE OF LIMITED CHEMICAL SPLASH PROTECTION Limited chemical splash garments are treated with a fluorocarbon (FC) finish which prevents penetration by water, oil and certain mild chemicals. But it is not permanent. In order to maintain the protection levels, the following guidelines should be observed during laundering: • Wash separately to garments with a standard type of finish. • To reactivate the finish dry in a tunnel dryer, ensuring the temperature does not exceed 160 o C (recommended temperature is 130 o C to 160 o C) • If the garments are dried in a tumble dryer, the inlet air temperature of the tumbler should attain at least 120 o C. This ensures the ‘reactivation’ of the finish and increases the repellent performance.
LIQUID CHEMICAL SPLASH PROTECTION Certain common forms of chemicals, such as reduced concentrations of acids and alkalis, are encountered by operators working in a wide range of industry sectors. The risks can be diverse, depending on the substances being handled, so it is essential that a risk assessment is carried out to determine the most appropriate type of protection required. This risk assessment will give important indications about the most suitable type of material, clothing design and composition of the most effective solution, e.g. combination with other types of PPE or other items of chemical protective clothing.
• Tumble drying at low temperatures and line drying should be avoided.
• The lifetime of the finish can be increased further by rinsing the garments with a fluorocarbon- based rinsing agent in the final rinse of the wash cycle. • The re-treatment of limited chemical splash garments can be carried out after every wash cycle for maximum performance. However, a treatment every 5 wash cycles should suffice, if accompanied by adequate drying conditions to reactivate the FC finish properly.

The basic requirements for cleanroom fabric is that it should be non-linting and have good filtration efficiency to prevent particles from being released within the controlled environment. All garments in our Cleanroom range are manufactured using densely woven barrier fabrics to ensure the highest standard of particle control. For use in ISO Class 3 Cleanrooms. A superior anti-static performance is achieved by a conductive carbon yarn which controls the risk of static build up. The carbon yarn is woven into the fabric therefore makes the anti- static properties permanent and can withstand the demands of the specialist cleaning processes in an Industrial laundry.

HIGH VISIBILITY PROTECTION
Johnsons Workwear offers a range of High Visibility garments which meet various standard requirements. Hi Visibility garments shall consist of a fluorescent background material to provide conspicuity during daylight conditions, and retro-reflective tape which ensures visibility under illumination of headlights in the dark. A garment shall have 360° visibility. This is achieved by encircling the body, arms and legs with horizontal fluorescent material and retro-reflective tape. There are three classes of high visibility garment based on the total area of fluorescent material and retro-reflective tape. Class 3 provides the highest level of conspicuity against most backgrounds, and Class 1 provides the lowest level. Selection should be based on a risk assessment in the required location or situation. All protective clothing must be kept in a clean condition in order to function correctly. This is particularly relevant with high visibility clothing. The visual performance of the garment will be affected by any soiling on the surface, and the wearer may be at risk. The importance of regular cleaning cannot be overstated. But the wearer must carefully select the washing and drying processes used for high visibility garments. 2 bands of reflective tape around chest and arms with Nordic tape positioning over shoulder. 2 mitred breast pockets with concealed stud fastening. One internal smart phone pocket to left as worn. Chunky zip front fastening with concealed stud fastening stormflap. Sidewaist elastication and action back. Twin stitching. Contrast front and back yoke and pocket flaps.
