(43) LUMEN. The term defining a quantitative unit used to identify the amount of light emitted by a light source. A lamp is generally rated in lumens.
m. (1) MACHINE/WELDING SHOP. A building or portion of a building that serves as a workshop where machines, machine parts, or other metal products are fabricated.
(2) MAIN COLOR. The term defining the primary color used on the majority of the building façade (main building elements).
(3) MAINTAINED FOOTCANDLES . The term defining luminance of lighting fixtures adjusted for a maintenance factor accounting for dirt build-up and lamp output depreciation. The maintenance factor used in the design process to account for this depreciation cannot be lower than 0.72 for high-pressure sodium and 0.64 for metal halide and mercury vapor. (4) MAJOR REHABILITATION . The term defining renovation, restoration, modification, addition, or retrofit of a structure that exceeds 50% of the current appraised value of any structure or site as established by the Wake County Revenue Department. (5) MAJOR STREET ENTRANCE. The term defining a street entrance or entrances leading from collector streets, major or minor thoroughfares, or highways to single family subdivisions, multi-family or mixed-use developments, planned unit developments or nonresidential development. (6) MAJOR THOROUGHFARE. A street defined as an NCDOT Secondary Road using access management practices required by the Town and designed for three (3) or more lanes. Dedicated left turn lanes or right turn lanes are required if warranted based on a traffic impact analysis (TIA). (7) MAJOR VARIANCE (Stormwater Management). A variance that is not a "minor variance" as that term is defined in this Rule. For provisions in this ordinance that are more stringent than the state's minimum water supply protection rules and Neuse rules, a variance to this ordinance is not considered a major variance as long as the result of the variance is not less stringent than the state's minimum requirements.
(8) MANSARD ROOF. The term defining a roof with a steep lower slope and a flatter upper slope on all sides, either convex or concave shape.
