the Town’s Director of Engineering or the North Carolina Department of Transportation, whichever is applicable.

(5) Shared Drives . Shared drives and shared parking access easements are encouraged to minimize curb cuts and maximize efficiency of overall parking areas. Parking lots shall be designed to allow for shared/cross-access as provided in the requirements of the Article N Parking, Loading & Lighting Design Standards, §9- 1657 Shared Parking Standards.

k. Required Parking

(1)

Nonresidential Minimum Parking .

A. Downtown-Center 1 (DC-1). There are no minimum parking requirements for nonresidential uses.

B. Downtown Center-2 (DC-2) . The minimum standard of required parking bays shall be provided as required in Article N Parking, Loading & Lighting Design Standards, §9-1652 General Standards.

(2) Residential Minimum Parking . For parcels with more than five (5) residential units, including vertical mixed-use buildings, 1.25 off-street parking bays per unit shall be required per residential unit. (3) Off-Site Parking . Parking spaces may be provided and located off-site if access to those spaces is documented through easements, long-term rental agreement, or as otherwise permitted in Article N Parking, Loading & Lighting Design Standards, §9-1652 General Standards and §9-1657 Shared Parking Standards. (4) Parallel Parking . If a development proposes a new public street or the widening of an existing public street, parallel on-street parking shall be provided on all such streets subject to Town Board of Commissioners and NCDOT approval.

Drive-throughs are prohibited in the Downtown Center-1 (DC-1) Zoning District. Drive- throughs are permitted in the Downtown Center-2 (DC-2) Zoning District under the following standards:
