Send Your Kids to College, Keep Your Money at Home
BEYOND COLLEGE A NEW ERA FOR THE COLLEGE MONEY GUYS
The new year seems as good a time as any to talk about the dawning of a new era for The College Money Guys. Thanks to my regional chairmanship with the Foundation for Financial Education (FFE), a nonprofit dedicated to spreading financial literacy, we have more resources to help people plan their futures than ever before. Thanks to the extensive network of professionals we have access to, from CPAs to estate planners, we’re now moving toward being able to help families with their overall financial health beyond just sending their kids to college. In truth, we’ve been doing this on a small scale already. We’ve actually had former students come back to us in their last year of college, remembering how we helped them in high school, and asking for resources now that they’re looking to get married or purchase their first house. This has always been a dream of ours: to be able to make a truly generational impact on the families we serve. Thanks to the FFE, we’re making this goal a reality. See, most financial planners have a one-track mind: retirees. They only take clients over 50 because most of the hard work is already done. Anyone looking for retirement savings was at least financially savvy enough to make it that far in life. These financial planners don’t want to put the effort or commitment into helping the next generation coming out of college in a fast-paced, ever-changing world. But that’s been my whole job for years.
“old man” wanting to get his financial future in order. I was more than happy to help. In a way, it felt like a full-circle moment. Since helping all my kids get into college informed the way I operated The College Money Guys, it’s fitting that our business makes this transition as my own kids are moving into adulthood. So with that perspective, we are moving full steam ahead into the new year. In fact, we’re excited to announce that we’ll now be able to draft, revise, or review your will for free! Yes really. This is part of our work with the FFE, which is dedicated to providing these sorts of resources to the public at no cost. All you have to do is give us a call. If you’ve been wanting to get your own financial house in order for the new year or have a loved one who is looking to do the same, we’re better equipped than ever to help! As we continue to expand the ways we can help you and your family make the most of your finances, we’ll always remain true to our roots. We’re still the go-to experts on going to college without going broke. But if you ever need a hand after your student has turned their tassel and thrown their hat in the air, we’ll be here to help.

Here’s to a bright new year!
And I’m not just talking about my professional life. I just finished helping my eldest son with his retirement plan. He’s fresh out of college, working at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, and came to his
