DEPARTMENT ARPT COMMITTEE FOR NON-REPRESENTED FACULTY

A. Composition:

The committee will be made up of 5-6 members representing at least 3 departmental divisions. At least 3 members must have an academic rank of Associate or Full Professor and at least 2 members must have an academic rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. When there is an open position, the current ARPT Chair will make a call for nominations among eligible department members. Committee members will be elected by a vote of the full time and adjunct faculty members of the department. Voting will be conducted online. Full-time faculty and adjunct faculty with full time benefits are allowed to serve as committee members. Deans, associate deans, assistants to the dean, and the department chair may not serve on the committee. A committee member who is not acting in good faith or is not participating may be removed by a unanimous vote of the remaining committee members and the written approval of the department chair.

B. Terms:

Each member will serve one 4 year term. After serving a term, the member cannot be elected for an additional term for the next 2 years. Terms will begin on July 1 and on end June 30. Terms shall be staggered so no more than 2 new members are elected at any one time. If a committee member resigns or is otherwise unable to remain on the committee, the department chair will nominate a replacement to finish the term. This nomination needs to be confirmed by a simple majority of the current committee. At the end of this unfinished term, the replacement member may run for a full term without waiting 2 years.

C. Committee Chair:

At the beginning of each academic year, the committee members will elect one of its current members as chair. A simple majority is needed to be elected chair. The chair may be re-elected for multiple years as long as he/she is a current member of the committee.

D. Meetings:

Two-thirds of the voting members are needed to make a quorum. At least 2 in person meetings are required each year that will take place in November and March. Additional meetings will be held at the request of any committee member or the department chair.
