2. Annual time commitment is approximately 100 hours or more with the exception of significant clinical teaching such as Family Medicine Clerkship or LPCC precepting.

3. The candidate is not compensated for this time.

4. Initial appointment can be at any level depending on the candidate’s experience and cannot exceed 5 years.

5. Promotion from Volunteer Instructor to Volunteer Assistant Professor is not usually sought until a candidate has been at the current rank for 4 years. Promotion with fewer years may be considered for exceptional achievement. 6. Promotion from Volunteer Assistant Professor to Volunteer Associate Professor is not usually sought until a candidate has been at the current rank for 4 years. Promotion with fewer years may be considered for exceptional achievement. 7. Promotion from Volunteer Associate Professor to Volunteer Professor is not usually sought until a candidate has been at the current rank for 4 years. Promotion with fewer years may be considered for exceptional achievement.

B. Documentation for Initial Appointment, Reappointment, and Promotion

1. Department Chair’s recommendation letter

2. Current curriculum vitae of faculty candidate. The suggested format can be accessed on the DFCM’s intranet https://fammed2.uc.edu/default.aspx

3. Copy of the faculty candidate’s professional license and if applicable board certification.

4. A letter of recommendation from the Division Director that will be overseeing the volunteer faculty member. The letter must include specific information regarding contributions to the Department of Family & Community Medicine.

5. For reappointment or promotion: Teaching evaluations.
