6. Denial of an expedited reappointment review, or denial of reappointment through this expedited process, is not grievable.

APPOINTMENT TO EMERITUS RANK

A. Eligibility and Process

1. Emeritus rank is a non-salaried academic title of honor for a retired faculty member.

2. Rank or title usually corresponds to the rank held at the time of retirement.

3. Retired or retiring Full, Associate, and Assistant Professors are eligible.

4. Applicants apply by submitting a written request to the department chair along with an abbreviated dossier.

5. The department ARPT committee needs to approve the appointment and submits its recommendation to the Dean.

6. Denial of emeritus rank is not grievable.

B. Required Material for the Dossier

1. Letter requesting the appointment indicating date of retirement, highlights of their career involvement in the department, and what future involvement they have planned with the department. 2. Current curriculum vitae - A suggested format may be accessed at the Faculty Affairs website or the DFCM intranet: https://fammed2.uc.edu/default.aspx. CV’s exported from eProfessional are acceptable.

3. Letter of support from the Department Chair.

4. Letter of support from the Department ARPT Chair.

VOLUNTEER FACULTY GUIDELINES

A. Initial Appointment, Reappointment, and Promotion

1. The candidate must offer a necessary service such as teaching, research, or patient care.
