 The evaluation methods should be clearly defined and described by the individual department in a formalized manner. Teaching:  Weight will be given to the development and organization of new and innovating teaching or evaluation methods, the restructuring of clinical services to include a greater educational component, course or resident rotation organization and administration, as well as participation on departmental, college, and national education committees. Mentoring:  Weight will be given to funding obtained for mentorship; to service as mentor on others’ mentored research grants; to local or national mentorship awards received; to workshops on mentorship conducted; and to letters of support from current or past trainees whom the candidate has mentored. 6) Faculty are encouraged to submit materials/copies of published papers, abstracts, presentations, and other items related to scholarly and research efforts. (limit to 5 scholarly works) 7) Materials allowing evaluation of the candidate’s contributions to service, administration, and other university, community and national efforts. 8) Letters of recommendation –  Clinical Tenure Track and Research Tenure Track: At least three letters of recommendation from individuals outside the University of Cincinnati are required. It is recommended that these letters be from individuals in other scholarly institutions who are nationally or internationally recognized for their scholarly accomplishments in the candidate’s field solicited by the department; more weight is given to letters from individuals who are experts in the field and who are not collaborators or former mentors of the applicant. These letters are in addition to recommendations that may come from former supervisors and/or associates of the candidate. In addition, at least three letters are required from individuals within the University are required. One of these three letters should be submitted by the candidate’s immediate supervisor.  Educator Track: At least three letters of recommendation from faculty who are in a position to judge the quality of the candidate’s activities are required. One of these letters should be submitted by the candidate’s immediate supervisor.  Research Track: Same as for Tenure Track.  Clinical Track: At least three letters of recommendation from faculty who are in a position to judge the quality of the candidate’s activities are required. One of these letters should be submitted by the candidate’s immediate supervisor.  Clinical & Research Educator Pathways: At least three letters of recommendation from faculty who are in a position to judge the quality of the candidate’s activities are required. One of these letters should be submitted by the candidate’s immediate supervisor.  Field Service Track: At least three letters of recommendation from faculty who are in a position to judge the quality of the candidate’s activities are required. One of these letters should be submitted by the candidate’s immediate supervisor. It is essential that the department director or administrative head include a detailed job description for each Field Service faculty member to provide the guidelines for evaluation of performance by the departmental and College ARPT Committees.
