Fort Worth Police Department Strategic Plan

Goal 2: Improve the interactions of members of the FWPD and the community. Training police officers to communicate effectively and empathize with all members of the public. FWPDmandated police academy cadets’ exposure to and familiarity with the Final Report of The President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing during their formal academy training. The Report identifies strategies that prepare police officers for balancing the demands of progressive policing with citizen expectations in a contemporary democratic society. The Task Force Report is also a required promotional source for sworn officers in all ranks seeking promotion. In addition, tenets within the Report are revisited during in-service training to reinforce the guiding principles of community service.
